From Wednesday, November 15 to Friday, November 17, Governor Koike made an official trip to Singapore under the invitation of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship.
In Singapore, the governor met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat. During the talks, Governor Koike promoted the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s (TMG) initiatives for the successful delivery of the Tokyo 2020 Games and becoming a global financial city. The governor also exchanged views with the Singaporean government officials on their common challenges, notably how to address a rapidly graying society.
The governor also spoke at the 16th Morgan Stanley Annual Asia Pacific Summit, Singapore FinTech Festival 2017, and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, where she shared the measures taken by the TMG for realizing the Global Financial City Tokyo and the attractions of Tokyo.
