The 1st Project Review by the International Olympic Committee

The 1st International Olympic Committee (IOC) Project Review, in which the IOC and the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOKYO 2020) meet to confirm the progress of preparations for the 2020 Games, is being held April 2-4, 2014.

At the start of the session held on the morning of April 3, the governor made the following remarks, "I am very pleased to be able to have all of you as my guests here in Tokyo. Just as London achieved great advancements as a city by hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012, I want the 2020 Games to serve as a catalyst for major change and transformation of this city, so that Tokyo can become the world's best city."

Later in the afternoon, the governor, along with 2004 Olympic gold medalist Koji Murofushi, joined the IOC inspection team at Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal as their tour of the planned site for the Olympic Village in Chuo Ward drew to a close. Speaking to a group of reporters, Governor Masuzoe said, "The IOC has built up a vast amount of expertise over the years. As such, with their guidance, I want Tokyo to be fully prepared as the host city. Since today marks the kickoff of this process, I hope to hold even closer discussions as we move forward."
