On Thursday, June 26, the second day of the first meeting with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission for the Tokyo 2020 Games, Governor Masuzoe hosted a luncheon featuring Tokyo's locally sourced produce.
After the luncheon, the governor told reporters that "When Mr. Coates and Mr. Gilady, the chair and vice-chair of the commission, came to Japan in April, I told them we will serve dishes with Tokyo's local ingredients next time, so we prepared those foods today. I am glad that the participants enjoyed the meal, and were impressed with the wide variety of ingredients Tokyo has to offer." The luncheon featured dishes that made full use of local ingredients, such as Tokyo X brand pork, "Tokyo shamo" chicken, vegetables, fruits and seafood.
