On Monday, September 1, Governor Masuzoe attended the 2020 Games Top Leaders Meeting.
At the meeting the participants discussed venue plans and other matters. The governor explained that work on the basic plans for the Olympic Aquatics Center, Sea Forest Waterway, and Ariake Arena will begin; for the remaining seven of the 10 facilities which the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is scheduled to construct, the TMG will continue to review the current plans; and as for the construction of the Olympic Village, the TMG will move forward with procedures related to the redevelopment project.
The meeting was also attended by Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games President Yoshiro Mori, Minister in charge of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games and Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Hakubun Shimomura, Japanese Olympic Committee President Tsunekazu Takeda, and Japanese Paralympic Committee President Mitsunori Torihara.
