On Tuesday, February 3, Mr. Park Won-soon, Mayor of Seoul, paid a courtesy call on Governor Masuzoe.
At the meeting, the governor said, "In keeping with last July's memorandum of understanding, Tokyo and Seoul have been promoting cooperation in the field of risk management, firefighting techniques, and other programs, including the Security & Safety Trade Expo and Tokyo International Industry Exhibition. Through this exchange and cooperation, the relationship between our two cities is steadily growing. This year, I hope that we will continue to work together in a variety of areas, including urban public safety. In addition, by learning from advanced programs implemented by Seoul in areas such as digital signage and volunteer tourist guides, I hope to make the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games a great success."
In order to promote the Memorandum of Understanding on Exchange and Cooperation between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Government signed by Governor Masuzoe and Mayor Park on July 23, 2014, the governor and mayor agreed to strengthen the relationship between the two cities, and issued a joint statement on the matter.
