On Monday, June 15, Governor Masuzoe attended the Legacy Committee for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
At the opening of the meeting, the governor said, “We must make it a regular habit to ‘offer help to those who need it’ and ‘demonstrate hospitality.’ Particularly, I believe the creation of a volunteer culture would be a valuable legacy. Many people are interested in volunteering, but they often hesitate to start doing so as they are not sure what to do or where to go. At this meeting, I hope to hear ideas from all sides about how to instill a spirit of volunteerism.”
The Legacy Committee was launched to study how to make the most of Games legacies based on opinions from experts and businesses. At the Monday meeting, the participants exchanged views on the training of volunteers.
