On Wednesday, August 26, H.E. Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Ambassador of India to Japan, paid a courtesy call on Governor Masuzoe.
At the meeting, the governor said, “Allow me to express my sincere sympathies for the devastating damage caused by the heat wave and massive flooding that hit India this year. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is strengthening its disaster preparedness to build a city that is resilient to disasters. In order to firmly protect foreign residents of Tokyo as well, we hope to deepen cooperation with embassies in the event of a disaster. This year, we will distribute copies of the manual, ‘Disaster Preparedness Tokyo,’ to all households in Tokyo, starting from September 1. We will also prepare an English version of the manual, which will be delivered to embassies, too. I hope you will find it helpful. I heard that you will participate in ‘World Assembly for Women in Tokyo: WAW! 2015’ hosted by the central government from August 28 to 29. I believe that the more active women are, the stronger the economy becomes and the better the society becomes. At the TMG, we are putting our utmost efforts into supporting women to pursue more active roles.”
