Governor Masuzoe completed a two-day visit to Seoul, South Korea, October 19-20.
On Tuesday, October 20, the governor took part in the 16th World Knowledge Forum at the request of the Maeil Business Newspaper Co., Ltd. Speaking on the theme “Cities Drive the World,” the governor described how Tokyo will use the opportunity presented by the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games as it progresses toward a bright future. At the discussion with Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon held open to the public that followed, the leaders affirmed the friendly and cooperative relationship that exists between the two cities, as well as agreed to further strengthen practical exchange and cooperation.
Responding to a group of reporters after the discussion, the governor said, “Unlike countries, cities can engage in various types of cooperation in practical fields. Both countries and cities are run by people. And, when people get to know each other well, misunderstandings are resolved. As such, I want to continue to further promote this type of exchange.”
