The Mayor of Amsterdam visits the Governor
On Thursday, November 12, Governor Masuzoe met Eberhard Edzard van der Laan, the Mayor of Amsterdam, when he visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
The Governor said he hoped the meeting would be a chance to further deepen relations between the Netherlands and Japan. He expressed the wish that Mayor van der Laan would visit again for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in 5 years time, while saying that Tokyo will likely be a very different city by then. The Governor said he hoped to learn from Amsterdam about things such as bicycle usage and revitalizing water-based transportation.
