Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony 2015

The Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony will be held again this year in beautiful gardens and historic buildings.
Applications for the main chaseki indoor tea ceremonies are no longer accepted, but same-day applications for participation in the “Nodate in English” (a nodate is an open-air tea ceremony) are possible.

Location, time, and date

• 1) Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum (Koganei Park, 3-7-1 Sakura-cho, Koganei City, Tokyo)
  October 3-4, 2015 (Sat. & Sun.), from 9:50 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. (final registration 3:30 p.m.)
  • Chaseki indoor tea ceremonies, 3 sets (House of Korekiyo Takahashi, Second House of the Nishikawa Family, Kawano Shoten)
  • Nodate outdoor tea ceremony, 1 set (in front of the House of the Date Family)
  • Tea Ceremony for Beginners, 1 set (Farmhouse of the Tenmyo Family)
  • Tea Ceremony Workshop for Children, 1 set (Mantoku Inn)
• 2) Hamarikyu Gardens (1-1 Hamarikyuteien, Chuo Ward, Tokyo)
  October 10-11, 2015 (Sat. & Sun.), from 9:30 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. (final registration 3:40 p.m.)
  • Chaseki indoor tea ceremonies, 2 sets (Nakajima no Ochaya Teahouse, Hobaitei Assembly Hall)
  • Nodate outdoor tea ceremonies, 3 sets (foot of Naka-no-hashi Bridge)
    *One of these three will be a sencha green tea ceremony.
  • Nodate in English, 1 set, and Nodate for high-school students, 1 set (foot of Naka-no-hashi Bridge)
  • Tea Ceremony for Beginners, 1 set (Hanakien Garden)

* Nakajima no Ochaya Teahouse will not be available for ordinary use during the above events.

Participation fees

• Chaseki indoor tea ceremony:　\700
• Nodate outdoor tea ceremony： \300
• Tea Ceremony for Beginners： \300
• Nodate in English, Nodate for high-school students：\300 each (Hamarikyu Gardens only)
• Tea Ceremony Workshop for Children： \200 (Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum only)
