Taste of Tokyo 2016

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will hold the Taste of Tokyo 2016, an event which aims to share the various attractions of Tokyo with those in Japan and abroad, including the agricultural, forestry, and marine products of Tokyo and cuisine made from such ingredients, as well as the traditional culture that has been passed down through the ages.
At this, the third Taste of Tokyo, each festival area, Marunouchi, Yurakucho, and Hibiya, will again offer its own exciting combination of delicious food, exhibits, and activities. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

Event Overview

1. Date and time

October 7, 2016 (Fri.) 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
October 8 (Sat.), October 9 (Sun.) 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

To be held in the event of rain. (May be cancelled in inclement weather.) Hours subject to change.

^*Yurakucho area　Festival runs until 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 8 (Sat.) and Oct. 9 (Sun.)
Hibiya area　To be held for two days on Oct. 8 (Sat.) and Oct. 9 (Sun.) only

2. Venues

Marunouchi area

Food trucks to sell dishes created by famous chefs featuring Tokyo ingredients. Traditional crafts to be exhibited and sold.

Yurakucho area

A collaboration with regions across Japan. Local cuisine, sweets, and specialty items to be introduced and sold.

Hibiya area

Local restaurants and famous food trucks to sell food. An outdoor movie screening and other events to be held.

Event Details

Marunouchi area

Marunouchi Naka-dori Ave.

• Food trucks will offer homestyle dishes from around the globe that incorporate locally produced Tokyo ingredients created by members of the Marunouchi Chef’s Club*.
  • The Marunouchi Chef’s Club was launched in 2009 by famous chefs of restaurants mainly in the Marunouchi area to promote Japanese cuisine through food education. The club’s chairman is Yukio Hattori.

Gyoko-dori Ave.

• Producers will sell fresh and safe Tokyo-grown and produced fruits, vegetables, milk, and eggs, and even processed foods made from fish and other ingredients made in Tokyo directly to the public.
• Various traditional Japanese handcrafts nurtured by the climate and history of Tokyo will be displayed and sold. Japanese sake produced by Tokyo breweries that have carried on the tradition since the Edo period will also be sold.
• Freshly picked, long-lasting flowers grown in Tokyo will be displayed, with plans to pass out the flowers on the final day.

Yurakucho area

Tokyo International Forum Ground-Level Plaza

• Freshly prepared local specialty dishes and sweets from across Japan to be sold out of food trucks, offering visitors a taste of flavors only available in those regions.
• Area will promote the attractions of regions across Japan, including the sale of local specialty items not readily found in Tokyo and appearances by yurukyara mascots.

Hibiya area

Hibiya Park Grass Field

• A variety of entertainment is planned, including an outdoor movie screening, live music, and a workshop for parents and children.
• Local Hibiya area restaurants and famous gourmet shops will prepare and sell food using ingredients produced in Tokyo out of tents and food trucks.

Taste of Tokyo is part of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s ALL JAPAN & TOKYO Project, in which the TMG, in cooperation with other regions of Japan, leverages the strengths of “all Japan” to raise the profile of various industries from around the country.
