Tokyo Named World’s No. 1 City by U.S. Travel Magazine

Selected by Readers of Condé Nast Traveler

Tokyo has been chosen the No. 1 city in the world by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler in the magazine’s annual award program, Best Cities in the World: Readers’ Choice Awards 2016. Although Tokyo was ranked 15th last year, the city surged to the top this year. The readers voted for their favorite cities outside the United States this year.

“I would like to thank the readers of Condé Nast Traveler for choosing Tokyo as the best city in the world,” said Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike. “As a leading global tourist destination both in name and reality, I want to continue to enhance Tokyo’s charm and welcome even more visitors from around the world as we look towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.” (See attachment for full quote .)
