The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is pleased to inform that TMG and the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee will jointly host the "2 Years To Go to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Countdown Event” on Tuesday, July 24 to celebrate the day exactly two years before the opening of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Prior to the countdown event, the Tokyo 2020 Mascots will make an official debut on Sunday, July 22. With the competition starting in two years, this is an opportunity for many people to participate in building up momentum toward the opening of the Games. Details about the event and media invitations will be provided at a later date.

Tokyo 2020 sponsors and Olympic venue cities' booths and exhibits, competitive event experiences for visitors, photo opportunities with the Mascots, a stamp rally, and more.
Recruiting of Games Volunteers and City Volunteers begins in mid-September 2018. To introduce the volunteer activities prior to the recruiting drive, a talk show will be held featuring Olympians, Paralympians, and experienced volunteers.
In addition, a volunteer PR booth will be open from 14:00 to 20:00.
Guest Olympians and the Tokyo 2020 Mascots will be on stage to celebrate the start of the 2-year countdown. As the Tokyo Skytree lights up, excitement will build as everyone dances to the Tokyo Gorin Ondo 2020 dance – a traditional Japanese summer festival dance and song.
The Tokyo 2020 Mascots, which were selected by a nationwide poll of elementary school students, will begin their activities.
