That prolonged cough might be caused by tuberculosis
Educational video on tuberculosis in seven languages
While the number of new tuberculosis (TB) cases is on a declining trend in Tokyo as in other parts of the country, the ratio of foreign-born persons* with the disease is becoming higher in the capital compared to the nationwide percentage. (See the link)
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has produced an educational DVD on TB in order to provide foreign-born residents and others with a correct understanding of the disease so that they can receive examinations and treatments without worry.
(*Foreign-born person: A person born outside Japan of any nationality)
Features of the DVD
The DVD has been prepared for use as an educational reference material for international students at universities and Japanese language schools, audio-visual information for foreign-born TB patients at medical institutions, and other various situations where clear explanation on the disease is needed.

Supports seven languages: Burmese, Chinese (Mandarin), English, Korean, Nepali, Tagalog, and Vietnamese (with Japanese subtitles).
All information needed to understand tuberculosis
Visual provision of necessary information, including the characteristics of TB, tests, treatments, and support available at public health centers.

Distribution and viewing method
The DVD is distributed to universities, junior colleges, Japanese language schools, public health centers, hospitals with tuberculosis wards, and other institutions in Tokyo. Currently, it can be viewed on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Official Video Channel, “Tokyo Douga.”
