Bureau of Waterworks
In the past, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Waterworks has provided assistance to foreign customers with inquiries in English. Now, with an eye to further developing Tokyo as an international city through opportunities such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, as well as to promote the removal of language barriers aiming to realize diversity or a “Diverse City,” the Bureau is pleased to announce that telephone interpretation services are now being offered through the Customer Service Center. Services have been expanded to include languages other than English as outlined below.
Assistance available in five languages (English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish)
8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (excludes Sundays and holidays)
In emergencies, such as a sudden water leakage accident, assistance will be made available in foreign languages outside of normal business hours.
The conversation between the customer and the Customer Service Center agent will be simultaneously interpreted by the interpretation company.
*Customers will be connected directly to the interpretation company when necessary.
