Free and anonymous HIV tests are available at the Tokyo Metropolitan Minami-Shinjuku Testing and Counseling Office and the Tama Area Testing and Counseling Office.
In recent years, reports of newly infected HIV and AIDS patients include foreign residents. To prevent the spread of infection, it is necessary for foreign residents in Tokyo to also get tested.
To make the process easier for foreigners, we have launched online pages that provide information about the testing and consultation service using "Yasashii Nihongo"* (Easy Japanese).
* What is "Yasashii Nihongo"?
Japanese language made easy for non-Japanese speakers to understand by using simple expressions, and by adding reading aids to Kanji and Katakana characters.
After the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in January 1995, Yasashii Nihongo was proposed as a simple Japanese aid to help foreigners take appropriate actions in a disaster.

Information regarding the testing, including test dates, reservation methods, and access is introduced in Yasashii Nihongo.
Also, refer to the separate "Image of information provided on the website" (Tokyo Metropolitan Minami-Shinjuku Testing and Counseling Office (PDF:345KB) / Tokyo Metropolitan Tama Area Testing and Counseling Office (PDF:329KB)).
