Announcement of the Grand Opening Ceremonies of Tokyo Metropolitan Sports Venues (New Permanent Venues)

After beginning construction several years ago, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) will hold grand opening ceremonies to mark the completion of several of the venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. Ceremonies will be held for the Yumenoshima Park Archery Field, the Sea Forest Waterway and the Kasai Canoe Slalom Centre. TMG is also pleased to announce the service starting dates of each venue.

Details about the opening ceremonies and media invitations will be provided at a later date.

1. Service Starting Dates

  1. Yumenoshima Park Archery Field : Sunday 28 April 2019
  2. Sea Forest Waterway : Saturday 1 June 2019
  3. Kasai Canoe Slalom Centre : Saturday 6 July 2019

2-1. Yumenoshima Park Archery Field

    Greetings from organisers, complimentary speech from guests, introduction of venue, ribbon-cutting ceremony, sports demonstrations, etc.

    A commemorative match hosted by the All Japan Archery Federation will be held after the ceremony.

2-2. Sea Forest Waterway

    Sunday 16 June 2019

  • Note
    A commemorative match hosted by the Japan Rowing Association will be held after the ceremony.

2-3. Kasai Canoe Slalom Centre

    Saturday 6 July 2019

    Kasai Canoe Slalom Centre (6-1-1, Rinkaicho, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo)

3. Other

The dates of the grand opening ceremonies and the service starting dates of the Oi Hockey Stadium, the Ariake Arena and Tokyo Aquatics Centre will be announced at a later date.
