The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG), the four prefectures of the Hokuriku region (Niigata, Toyama, Ishikawa, Fukui), and air and railway operators have jointly established the “Tokyo and Hokuriku Region Council to Attract More Foreign Travelers”, so that foreign independent travelers visiting Tokyo can easily visit the Hokuriku region. Promotional activities highlighting the features of both Tokyo and the Hokuriku region are underway.
To facilitate the campaign, fam trips are being held again this year for overseas media and others on sightseeing routes linking Tokyo and sites in the Hokuriku region.
※ Details on sightseeing routes and more can be found here (PDF:36KB)
Foreign media, popular travel bloggers, and others have been invited to experience sightseeing routes recommended in each of the Hokuriku prefectures for foreign independent travelers visiting Tokyo. The sightseeing routes and spots as seen from a foreign perspective and accounts of their experiences will be made available on the HOKURIKU X TOKYO website (External link) and outlets of the invited media.
So foreign independent travelers visiting Tokyo will also visit the Hokuriku region, we are implementing a project to encourage more travelers to visit both Tokyo and the Hokuriku region by setting up sightseeing routes that start from Tokyo, and by widely disseminating overseas a fresh appeal to Japanese travel.
