Tokyo Metropolitan Government Facilities (New Permanent Venues) to Reopen for Public Use

Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is now preparing for the reopening of new permanent venues used during the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. After the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee finishes removing the overlays from each venue, the TMG will partially refurbish them. Among these venues, Sea Forest Waterway, Oi Hockey Stadium, and Kasai Canoe Slalom Centre are now scheduled to reopen for public use.

1. Reopening Date

  1. Sea Forest Waterway
    Friday 29 April 2022 (partially reopen)
  2. Oi Hockey Stadium
    Saturday 18 June 2022
  3. Kasai Canoe Slalom Centre
    Saturday 23 July 2022 (partially reopen)

  1. Each facility is planning to hold a trial session for the relevant sports to commemorate its reopening. Details will be announced when available.
  2. Detailed information about the reopening of Ariake Arena (scheduled to be reopened in summer 2022), and Tokyo Aquatics Centre (scheduled to be reopened in spring 2023) will be provided when available.

* Some areas of the reopened facilities are not available for use due to the construction work. Reopening dates may change depending on the progress of construction.
