“Hyper Edohaku” game app sequel “Meiji Ginza” edition is now live!
Travel through time across the Ginza district
during Japan’s modernization period

Tuesday, May 23, 2023 - The Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture are pleased to announce the release of the sequel to their game app “Hyper Edohaku,” taking place in the Ginza district during the Meiji era.

The new game app, “Meiji Ginza” edition, is set in Tokyo’s Ginza area during the Meiji era, Japan’s modernization period. Players can enjoy the blend of new and old, Japanese and Western, as they explore the evolution of Ginza in this time. The Edo-Tokyo Museum has been closed since April 2022. During this closure, they launched the “Hyper Edohaku” game app in 2022 to provide the public with a means of learning about life, culture, and history in Edo-era Tokyo. The first release, “Edo Ryogoku”, achieved approximately 50,000 downloads globally, gaining recognition not only in Japan, but also in the United States, Taiwan, the UK and elsewhere.
