Policy Speech by the Governor of Tokyo, Koike Yuriko, at the First Regular Session of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, 2023

In opening the first regular session of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly in 2023, I wish to relate my basic stance on future metropolitan administration.

  • Fully supporting the empowerment of women
  • Acknowledge differences. Diversity gives birth to power
  • A society that enables senior citizens to lead vibrant lives
  • Letting everyone shine through the power of sports

4. The foundation for all activities: a safe and sustainable city

  • COVID-19 response
  • Transforming Tokyo into an even more resilient city
  • Striking a balance between decarbonization and energy security

5. Draw out potentials for a Tokyo that attracts the world

  • The progress of startups is the driver of growth
  • Accelerating GX and DX, and promoting a shift in industry structure
  • An attractive city that draws the world

6. To make the Tama and islands areas even more livable and attractive

  • Attractive urban development of Tama, which continues to change
  • For more livable Tokyo islands that also appeal to visitors
